This writer shares some of my observations and conclusions. While it's probably an overstatement to suggest paper will completely disappear, I do think our dependence upon it for transferring and storing information is going to quickly decrease.
Every time we do something digitally, instead of on paper, we do something good for the planet. I picked up a glossy brochure at a car dealership today, but then put it back down, realizing I could get the same information on the web, and in some small way decrease the demand for that specific brochure. Every time I get my daily news on my iPhone instead of buying the (paper) Post, I decrease the demand for newsprint. Southwest Air now lets you scan your boarding pass from the screen of your phone, instead of having to print it. It's all good.
I think we should all look for ways to use less paper.
