Enhanced e-Books are on the way...

I don't get involved in the PC versus Mac religious wars. I will say though, that whether we like it or not Apple has already dramatically changed the game on two fronts:
(1) They changed the music industry with the iPod.
(2) They changed the smart phone industry with the iPhone.

I now predict they are on the verge to make another big move: changing the game on the book, newspaper and periodical industries with their upcoming tablet/pad.

Here's yet another indicator:

Notice that second to last sentence about "enhanced e-books." That's the Kindle killer.

Just days before Apple is expected to introduce its multimedia touchscreen tablet, the company is said to be in negotiations with a variety of companies for content. The latest alleged participants: educational publisher McGraw-Hill and trade book publisher Hachette Book Group. [snip] Also said to be engaged in discussion was publisher HarperCollins. The company may offer enhanced e-books that include video, author interviews and social networking applications. The releases would likely cost more than the standard $9.99 for current e-books.
